Gavoi is a picturesque mountain village with approximately 3,500 inhabitants. Only few kilometers away you can find the Gusana lake. Fonni is the highest mountain village of Sardinia, approximately 1000 meters above sea level, and to the north of the Gennargentu mountain massif. Also the small places Aritzo and Orgosolo characterize the local mountain world. Gavoi is the ideal starting point for walks, day trips and relaxing days of holiday within unspoiled nature.

Typical of the area: In the middle of antique stone and cork oak forests in the heart of Sardinia. Granite facades, amazing decorated balconies, as well as the Late-Gothic church Parrocchia di San Gavino and its renaissance hall give a special charm to this place.

| Tiana |
Small village of about 20 kilometers of distance. This place became known for its textile manufacture. By the end of 18th century 18 looms (sa cracchera) and 20 water mills decorated the banks of the local river " Riu Tino ". At first the sheep wool was spun and afterwards weaved in looms. To this day following this antique tradition the wool is washed with a great quantity of water and then worked by a mechanic loom,

A village known for its mural paintings ("Murales") which were expression of the political, economic and social protests mostly in the 60s.

Typical Mountain Village that helds a masks museum and many archaeologic sites. Besides, it is known for culinary specialities.

| Nuoro |
It's the bigger city inland. In the Ethnology Museum of Nuoro you can view the Sardinian mask and dress collection, with gold jewellery and other objects of Sardinian artcraft. Furthermore, in the centre of Nuoro you find the birthplace house of the commemorate Nobel price for literature (1926) Grazia Deledda. She was the first woman who was distinguished with the title. Besides, at the central Piazza Sebastiano Satta you can also admire the stone sculpture of the Sardinian artist Costantino Nivola.

| Lago di Gusana |
Artificial lake of approx. 2 square kilometers of size, 3 kms behind Gavoi. This lake is surrounded by holm oaks and tall stone pines. Since beginning of the 60s it serves the Italian electricity company (ENEL) as an energy source for there hydroelectric power plant. It produces annually approximately 220 million kilowatts.

Impressive limestone massif surrounded by stone oak forests: the Supramonte is an ideal travelling paradise. the " Monte Corrasi " represents the highest elevation of the Supramonte. Its summit reaches 1463 meters.

| Tonara |
One place surrounded by thick hazelnut, almond and chestnut forests: Tonara is famous for its "Torrone". It is local nougat made with honey, egg whites and nuts or almonds. Annually the " Sagra del Torrone " takes place here in the Easter Monday. This is one of the most successful events of the Barbagia, with multicoloured folklore program.

| Grotta di Ispinigoli |
Conveniently along the highway SS 125 between Dorgali and Orosei. This worth seeing limestone cave has probably the biggest stalactite of Europe (approx. 38 meters with approx. 2 meters of diameter), in the middle of a circular cave. This cave is named Ispingoli that translated means " thorn in the neck ". In ancient times it was already a cult site for the Phoenicians and the Punics.

| Bidonì |
The witch museum opened in the old city hall of Bidonì in 2004. "S'omo 'e SA Marza" (literally the witch house) lies in the province of Oristano with a view to the Omodeo lake (largest artificial lake in Italy). The exhibition documents the history of the witches in Sardinia from the old to the modern times, and describe typical rituals and reasons of the local witchcraft.

Sant'Antonio Abate, Mamuthones and Isso'adores in Mamoiada |
The celebration to honour the saint Antonio Abate introduces officially the Sardinian carnival. During the day is the beginning of celebration for Mamuthones and Isso'adores. That go around the village dressed in dark sheep fur with a big mask from cherry or chestnut wood and on the shoulders cow bells up to 35 kilos.

| Horse Race S'Ardia in Sedilo |
On the 6th and 7th July the perhaps most famous rural celebration of Sardinia takes place in Sedilo. And it culminates in the so-called S'Ardia, a bareback horse-race which symbolizes the victory of Constantine over Maxentius.
