Costa Rei
Place and Surroundings
This popular holiday spot is on the southeast coast of Sardinia with 8 kms of fine sandy beach. This coast starts from "Cala Sinzias" in the south and goes as far as cape Ferrato. The resort of the same name Costa Rei first appeared in the 70s. It offers to the current guests restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, gas stations and supermarkets. In the winter months though itÂ’s not inhabited.

The region of Muravera is known for its citrus fruits and offers great possibilities for the purchase of Sardinian artcrafts.
Muravera
Approx. 29 kms away, it's a town inhabited all year round. Known for its production of citrus fruits.
Gola Rio Cannas
Impressive gorge with high oleander bushes (highway SS125 from Cagliari-direction Muravera).
Villasimius
About 18 kms away lies this holiday resort. Long sandy beaches and numerous restaurants, Pizzerias, beautiful pavement with cafés and a tourist yacht harbour.
Marine protected area of Cape Carbonara
This coast section stands since the year 2000 under natural protection and today represents a beautiful snorkelling paradise. Also it offers safety to the monk's seal, a species threatened for extintion.
Monte Minniminni
The mountain region of the Monte Minniminni lies close to Castiadas and invites to beautiful walks.
Tomb of the Giants by San Isidoro
A grave from the Nuraghi Ages and still in good condition. It's in the middle of unspoilt nature, along the highway SS125.
Monte dei Sette Fratelli
Along the impressive ravine of "Gola Rio Cannas" you get directly in the mountain region of "Sette Fratelli" (a natural protected area). Where above the oak forests, blackberries and mastic trees rise 7 mountain peeks, hence the name "Sette Fratelli" (seven brothers). There are numerous, well posted forest paths to wander around and explore.
Cagliari
About 66 kms away is the island capital. With interesting museums, a historic castle quarter, beautiful panoramic terraces, a botanic garden, animated shopping streets, trattorias, restaurants, as well as a salty lake where pink flamingos live all year round .

Amusement and night life Procession of Sant'Efisio in Cagliari
On the 1st May takes place a very suggestive procession to honour the city patron Sant'Efisio. . It's one of the most famous festivity on the island, especially in Cagliari. Where numerous regional costume groups from all over Sardinia participate.
The event starts on the 1st of May, when the procession take the statue of the saint to Nora and Pula in the south coast, and then returns on the 4th May in Cagliari.
This procession is been held every year since the 17th century and was not even ceased at wartimes. Definitely not to be missed!
