Playing golf in the Mediterranean island of
Sardinia
Sardinia has some of the finest, most beautiful golf courses of the
Mediterranean. Golf is actually becoming a growing activity available
in the different areas of the island. Sardinia golf courses offer
a delight mix of links and park courses. They range from 18 holes
championship to more relaxed easygoing 9 hole courses. This sport
can be played in Sardinia all year around even in January and February
thanks to the lovely and mild climate of this splendid island. For
professional experienced players or simply beginners, Sardinian golf
courses are available near the seaside or near the countryside.
In Southern Sardinia we find Is Molas Golf Course the
most popular golf holiday resort in the island, where the last two
European Challenges took place together with many other important
competitions.
The location of the Is Molas golf court and the Hotel is very spectacular
being situated at the foot of a granite hill very close to the lively
town of Pula and nice sandy beaches. It is possible to attend golf
lessons with professional players.
In the North Eastern popular and exclusive Costa Smeralda resort we
find The Pevero Golf Club designed in 1967 by an American architect,
that for many years remained a well-kept secret but soon flourished
into a fantastic luxurious resort.
Down in the West Coast, in the sensational and unspoilt peninsula
del Sinis we find a young and beautiful golf course: Is Arenas. The
courses meander among lovely vegetation such as juniper and pine trees.
The Meirana golf course is in the lovely countryside in the suburb
of the Capital of Sardinia near a little town called Settimo San Pietro.
It was opened a few years ago near an impressive archaeological holy
well sanctuary " Cuccuru Nuraxi" considered a masterpiece of the Nuraghic
Civilization.
Near San Teodoro the lively resort in the south of Olbia there is
the Golf Club Puntaldia. This 9 hole course will impress you for its
fantastic location on a small headland with small bays and creeks.
